ChatGPT or Claude for training plans?

The short answer is: use the one you already have open. The long answer is this article, and it includes the part most comparisons leave out — the question nobody can answer for you without selling you something.

1.What is strictly identical in both

The connector is the same. Both get the same 42 tools, the same two grants — read and write — the same approval screen and the same address to paste. There is no better version for one and a cut-down version for the other, and nothing is held back on purpose from either side.

That means what NoteFit can do does not change with your choice: creating a whole mesocycle in one call, importing a roster from a CSV, counting training volume per muscle and reporting what needs attention across every athlete. If something works in one, it works in the other.

2.What genuinely differs

MCP — the protocol behind this connection — was created by Anthropic, the company that makes Claude. In practice it shows in requests that chain several tools: "see who has no week and plan it from this one" tends to run in a single go, without you walking it through step by step.

On the ChatGPT side there is something Claude does not have here: the connector also answers the two search operations ChatGPT uses in its research mode. That helps with open-ended questions, because it can search inside your data without you naming the athlete and the week before it will start.

And there is a difference that is not ours: whether you can add connectors at all depends on your plan with each of them. That moves from time to time and is better confirmed in the assistant’s own settings than here.

3.The comparison we cannot make for you

Which of the two writes better plans. We do not know, and distrust anyone who says they do: it would mean comparing models that change version month to month, against a definition of "better plan" nobody has written down, and the result would be wrong before it was published.

What we can tell you is what using them shows: both write plausible plans, both invent numbers if you give them no constraints, and both improve a great deal when you ask them to check what they wrote. The quality of what comes out depends more on your request than on the choice between them.

4.How to decide in five minutes

Use the one you already pay for. The advantage of a second assistant does not cover a second subscription, and connecting takes the same time in both: paste the address, sign in, approve.

If you have both, connect both — nothing forces a choice, and each connection is independent and revocable under Account → Connected apps. Make the same request in each and keep the one you liked. That is the only test that matters, because it is run on your athletes and in the way you write.

5.Connecting both to the same account

You do not have to choose. The connector is the same address for both, and your account holds more than one active connection at a time: you authorise one in ChatGPT, another in Claude, and both see the same plan.

In practice people end up using one to think and plan at length, and the other for quick requests on a phone. Because the plan lives in your account and not in the conversation, what one writes the other reads next, with nothing to export.

You can see active connections under Account → Connected apps and disconnect any of them whenever you want. Disconnecting deletes no work: it removes access, and what was already written stays.

6.What changes if you switch assistants

Less than you fear, and that is deliberate. Your athletes, blocks, weeks and loads live in your NoteFit account, not in the assistant. Switching assistants means revoking one connection and authorising another — the data does not move, because it was never there.

What you lose is the conversation history and the habits built inside it: the prompts you had tuned, the context the assistant had accumulated about how you work. That is annoying, but it comes back within a week, and it is not your roster.

It is the difference between a tool that keeps your work and one that keeps you. It is worth asking any AI tool before you adopt it: if I leave tomorrow, what do I take with me?

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect both to the same account?

You can. Each connection is independent, appears separately under connected apps, and disconnects on its own without affecting the other.

Do I pay twice for connecting both?

Not to NoteFit — the connector is part of the account. On the other side you pay what you would already pay for each assistant; connecting to us adds nothing.

What if I switch assistants in a few months?

You lose nothing. The plan lives in your NoteFit account, not in the conversation. Disconnect one, connect the other, and it sees exactly the same thing.

Which one is faster?

It varies with the model you are using in each and with the time of day, and it changes with every update they ship. It is not a stable enough criterion to decide on.
